To support the continuous growth in demand for our services and to strengthen our Sales and Project teams, we are looking for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer with a passion for working within the renewable energy sector.

Cadeler is currently undergoing a transition from its status as a marine service provider operating on time charters, emerging as a mature contractor capable of delivering more complex offshore wind construction projects. As the wind industry is rapidly growing and the complexity of projects increasing, Cadeler is facing an exciting phase of development with a strategy to take on more complex scopes within the development of offshore wind farms. This will require the hiring of skilled and specialist personnel from both technical, project execution and administrative perspectives.

The job

We are looking for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for our Technical Sales department. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play an active part in the development, delivery and quality of geotechnical documentation used as basis for tender proposals.

You will work with a skilled team with different backgrounds and report to the Head of Technical Sales. As part of the role, you will have to interface with both the Head of Commercial Sales as well as members of the sales team and the wider engineering team. Depending on the workload of the Sales and Project departments, Tthe Geotechnical Engineer is also expected to support the engineering and execution team with geotechnical related issues and challenges. As part of the position and subject the priority related work scopes that lie within the geotechnical engineering disciplines, it is expected that the Cadeler geotechnical engineer also supports the technical sales team with other engineering related work.

The company is based in our head office in Copenhagen, but we recently have established an office in Vejle, Jutland, and there is flexibility to also work out of Vejle in shorter or longer periods depending on the activities.


Your key duties and responsibilities are:

  • Evaluation of soil, seabed conditions including bathymetry and seabed items (debris, pUXO, UXO etc.) and metocean data, and conclude on risk profile for vessel installation
  • Support clients and the sales team in assessing risk relating to soil, site and other project data
  • Proactively develop tools and solutions in the geotechnical space that can support the growth of the business
  • Assist in optimizing operational aspects of company’s jack up vessels
  • Keep up to date in the industry developments within the geotechnical field related to the installation of jack-ups in offshore wind
  • Establish and develop a close working relationship with key vendors within the geotechnical space
  • Support the project engineering team with review of soil conditions on locations where challenging conditions are predicted
  • Prepare engineering drawings for layouts and lifting checks.
  • Assess vessel stability

Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and trustworthy and after a short introduction, you will be competent in prioritizing tasks and working with little supervision. You are a strong communicator and take great pride in and passion for providing timely support.

As the ideal candidate we expect you to have most of the following skills:

  • A bachelor or master in relevant engineering degree; geotechnical is an advantage
  • Relevant experience with geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, or naval architecture
  • Min. 5 years’ of experience within offshore sector and/or jack-up vessel operations is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical matters effectively to audiences at all levels
  • Accurate and solution-oriented team player with excellent organization and time management skills
  • Reliable and committed team player motivated to work in an international/multicultural environment
  • Solid presentation and commercial skills
  • English fluently, both written and spoken
  • The candidate must be able to obtain a Danish working permit
